National Skills Coalition is looking for a detail-oriented and driven individual for the role of Operations Associate. The role is a key player in ensuring the smooth and effective operations of a mid-sized organization. The Operations Assistant is an integral member of the Operations Team, and acts as a trusted advisor who can effectively manage the activities of the board and executives, coordinate events and projects, assist with fundraising tasks, help onboard new staff and coordinate calendars. This job requires strong project management skills, the ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment and comfort with technology platforms that include Microsoft and project management software. The position is based in Washington DC.  National Skills Coalition currently observes a hybrid schedule with DC-based staff reporting to the office one day a week. 




Event Coordination

  • With input from the with program staff and assistance/direction from contracted planning firms, coordinate major events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives.
  • For smaller events (fewer than 50 people), including staff events, coordinate all operations--arrange accommodations, food, and if needed, travel.

Development Assistance

  • Work with the Managing Director of Development and communications staff to ensure database supports individual giving and is updated regularly; manage all aspects of acknowledgement process
  • Manage electronic filing system for Development
  • Assist in scheduling and coordination of internal and external meetings
  • Monitor metrics and analysis of online fundraising and constituent mobilization campaigns
  • Support funder invitation process for events, including NSC’s large main convenings and any fundraising gatherings. Support logistics for in-office funder meetings
  • Assist in development-related projects as needed


Board and Executive Support

  • Assist CEO in the coordination of Board communications and activities, as well as interactions between Board, Executive Team and other staff. Support individual Board members in effectively fulfilling their roles on the Board
  • Schedule and ensure full Board participation (RSVPs, when needed, travel) in quarterly meetings. Work with CEO and events staff to ensure effective materials/logistics management of in-person Board meetings.
  • Assist Executive Team as needed 


Operations Support

  • Assist with onboarding of new hires and offboarding of departing staff
  • Other duties as assigned

COMPENSATION: Salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000; salary depends on relevant experience and new staff rarely start at the top of the range. Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of one year relevant experience
